The Princess of Wales brings Awareness to Holistic Healthcare Upon Completion of Three Peaks Challenge

Image
The Princess of Wales completed the Three Peaks challenge over the weekend.  The challenge involves a blend of driving and trekking through three of the highest mountain peaks in England, Scotland and Wales--Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa. The challenge areas cover 23 miles of walking distance along with a 462 mile drive between each peak.   The challenge is open to the public and many aim to walk to the summit of the peaks within 24 hours.  However, the trek is so grueling and extensive that only 40% of the individuals attempting the challenge are able to complete it within this timeframe.  It is recommended that individuals desiring to complete the Three Peaks Challenge engage in strength training over a period of eight to twelve weeks. Whether Catherine engaged in strength training is unknown but she has always been quite athletic.  Not only did Catherine complete the challenge--she is part of the smaller percentage of people who were able to comp...

Stopping By Amazon Go NYC

Image
Amazon Go has seven locations around Manhattan and they are all convenience stores.  I visited the 42nd street location to better familiarize myself with the "GO" experience.  The location was clean and there weren't many people inside except for a worker or two.  There were a variety of sandwiches, snacks, soups, salads, drinks and etc.  Being a born New Yorker, I can give my honest opinion on what I think of this "convenience store." It's definitely not like your traditional bodega or corner store which tend to be stocked with more than just food.  Bodegas or convenience stores have everything from skincare to home essentials to pet food.   Amazon Go is a very scaled down bodega with high technology that allows for a seamless, quick meal shopping experience. That is--if cold cuts are your thing!  And yes, I said quick meal, meaning grab a bahn mi sandwich and make a dash back to the office or wherever you're headed to, as I did not see any seat...

Amazon Go Heads to the UK

Image
Amazon has opened the world’s most advanced grocery store in Ealing, London this week. The grocery store is the first of its kind with no physical cashiers or checkout process. It is literally “walk out the store” grocery shopping. No wallets or cash are necessary. What lines ??? It’s grab and go! It’s the right grocery store for the folks who have little patience. Once inside the store, the shopper will only need a smartphone with an Amazon Go app installed. When the user signs into their Amazon account and scans it upon entry, they will be able to shop freely inside. Amazon uses sensor fusion technology to track the moves of customers and computer vision and algorithms to help with payment and its contactless checkout experience. No matter what a customer picks up in the store, the sensors are all around. It’s even on the grocery store’s ceilings. The app will add the item to the shopper’s “electronic cart” when the item is picked up in the store. If a shopper puts an item back, ...

Green Sculptural Art by Daniel Popper

Image
Daniel Popper is a South African artist who incorporates the physical surroundings into his sculpture creations. Popper’s latest installation was created during the pandemic and is called “Thrive.” The monumental sculpture is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the Society Las Olas building. This permanent public installation incorporates natural elements such as concrete, fiber, glass and greenery. The 30 foot tall sculpture features a feminine figure carefully revealing an open interior. The viewer can physically walk through the fern covered interior with its tunnel style appearance. Popper created “Thrive” to be an inspiration of hope and transformation; a year where many were forced to find ways of thriving in the midst of turmoil and loss. The installation is very awe inspiring and the interpretations one can receive are numerous. The plants represent new life and the concrete represents the hardness of life. The juxtaposition between the concrete and the greenery can be int...
