Butter Made from Thin Air and Eggs Made from Plants

Image
There's a green company in town that is creating something out of nothing.  That something is delightfully rich butter.  This butter is vegan and made from thin air.  Yes--you heard that right.  The butter is made from air; utilizing real fat and without any impact to the environment.  Savor is the company behind this new and revolutionary fat making process.  To make the butter or fat, a carbon source is heated with hydrogen and is later mixed with oxygen from the air. Photo by Savor Savor was founded by Kathleen Alexander in San Jose, California. Their mission is to commercially produce agriculture free, healthy fats in a way that doesn't negatively affect the environment. The fats are produced without dangerous chemicals and toxins.  Butter is the first type of food that Savor has created but company has plans to expand and begin producing these fats for other foods such as ice cream, milk, cheese and meat.  These foods will all be made without...

10 Days After their Van Gogh protest, Just Stop Oil Targets the King of England

Image
Just Stop Oil is back at it again and this time the shenanigans included British Royal family members, King Charles, Prince William, Princess Catherine and Camilla Consort.  Yesterday, two members from the organization marched into Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and visited the royal family section.  As the two protesters made their way to the royal wax figures, they began removing their bags and outerwear.  The bold letters of the organization’s name swiftly appeared on their white tees as people quietly walked to and fro past other wax figures.  The activist duo consisted of a woman and man.  The woman grabbed a flat looking cake out of her bag and jammed it right into the face of the figure of King Charles.   Would Prince William be next?  No! Prince William was actually spared of being a cakeface.  Perhaps Just Stop Oil is aware of William’s work with his Earthshot Prize which is an initiative being used to fund environmental solutions....

Remembering Queen Elizabeth! Making her pancake recipe

Image
One day after the last Green News Guide article was written, Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully on September the 8 th .  I always thought that the Queen would live past the age of 100 like her mother.  The Queen had been visibly getting more frail since the death of her husband. Even though we all know she was up there in age, it comes as a shock because she was just seen appointing the new Prime Minister Liz Truss two days prior.  It goes to show that nothing lasts forever  and what’s here today can be gone tomorrow.     Queen Elizabeth II was blessed to have the longest reign of all monarchs past and present. Yes, there were some negatives that happened as a result of the early British Empire but it’s important to focus on the positive especially considering that history cannot be changed.  If we can remember or learn anything from the queen, it should be her steadfast loyalty. The Queen was an exemplary model of ...

The Queen on Climate Change: "'The time for Words has now moved to the time for action!"

Image
Queen Elizabeth made a headlining address to individuals in attendance at the COP26 UN Climate Change Summit in Glasgow, Scotland.   The Queen spoke with a sense of urgency highlighting the importance of prioritizing the global climate change problem, essentially stating, “If we fail to cope with this challenge, all the other problems will pale into insignificance.” The Queen, dressed symbolically in green and wore a triple strand delicate pearl necklace and a beautiful diamond and gemstone brooch given to her by her beloved husband, Prince Philip.  She remembered him in her speech and his photograph was seen right behind her.  She emphasized that Prince Philip was a great respecter of the environment who shared his love of the earth with his children and grandchildren. "It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet lives on through the work of our eldest son, Charles, and his eldest so...

Prince William Creates £50 million Prize for Green Change Agents and Environmental Workers

Image
Prince William is spearheading a new earthcentric initiative with his Royal Foundation. He announced a 50 million pound Earthshot Prize, which will be awarded on an annual basis to five different people or organizations whose mission, is focused on protecting the earth. The five objectives central to the Earthshot prize are: protecting and restoring nature, cleaning the air, reviving oceans, building a waste free world and fixing the climate. The earth-shot prize is sort of like a nobel prize for the environment. This is the single largest award for individuals or organizations who are involved in climate and environmental work. Prince William is continuing the work that his father, Prince Charles, has been passionate about by honoring those who are actively creating solutions to solve our planet’s environmental problems. He came up with the idea for a green award during a visit to Africa two years ago. The award ceremony will be held in a different city every year with the premiere c...

The Ugly Truth about PPE and the Countess of Wessex's Stance on its Disposal

Image
Countess of Wessex and Family Express Concern over PPE litter and disposal The Countess of Wessex and her lovely family took part in a beach clean up for the Great British Beach Clean over the weekend, along with a few other volunteers from the Marine Conservation Society. Sophie proves again and again why she is such a beloved and treasured family member of the royal family. One environmental issue that the pandemic has caused to spiral out of control is the use of plastic in personal protective equipment (PPE). Single use items such as cups and utensils are now a preferable choice in households, facilities and businesses as people work together to help continue to curb the spread of the virus in daily life. Have all the efforts to lessen widespread use of plastics gone up in flames? At the beach clean up, Lady Louise, daughter of the countess expressed worries about the widespread use of single use plastic due to the coronavirus pandemic in her statement: “Everything has got ...

Royal Family History with Homeopathy and Alternative Medicine: A Comprehensive Timeline

Image
The royal family has been acquainted with homeopathy since the 1800s. Here is an easy to follow timeline that I’ve developed for others to learn about the royal Family’s roots in homeopathy. Mid 1800s - Dr. Frederick Hervey Quinn was the son of the Duchess of Devonshire and the 1st Earl of Dunraven. Dr. Quinn was a traveling physician and headed to Naples when he met Dr. Neckar, a protégé of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, founding father of homeopathy. He was very impressed with Hahnemann’s system. During this period, Dr. Quinn became physician to European royalty such as Prince Karl Phillip von Schwarzenberg. He was also physician to King Leopold I, Queen Victoria’s father in law. 1827 - Dr. Frederick Hervey returned to London in 1827 and formally introduced Hahnemann’s system of homeopathy to British society. 1830 - Earl of Shrewsbury asks Hahnemann for a recommendation of a homeopathic practitioner who would become his personal doctor. 1835 - Queen Adelaide wife of William IV publicize...
