Should Elon Musk Sit Down With Bill Gates to Discuss Climate?

Image
The beef soup between Bill Gates and Elon Musk doesn't seem to be simmering down any time soon!  The two had a small online spat during the pandemic in 2020 but it seems that engine has revved up again recently when Bill Gates sat down with Bloomberg to discuss his climate tech investments and solutions.  These two men have tremendous influence, intelligence and resources that, when combined in partnership, could do so much good for the world.  The world will never know why the two businessmen choose to keep a distance.  It's actually a bit pitiful and kind of like watching a father and son throw digs at the other every so often.  They probably could learn a fair amount of knowledge from each other if they were to put their small differences aside. There are indicators that lead me to believe that the two would get along IRL if they were both willing to clear a time in their schedules, plan a meeting and have a serious discussion about matters that are near and dear to the bot

Brave Neurosurgeon Tells Why he Left Western Medicine

Image
The field of medicine has evolved since its earliest and historical days when Hippocrates sought out a new system to explain and understand illnesses.  During those days, the main goal was to diagnose an individual's problem and provide a way to restore balance among the humors using logic and philosophy. Modernized western medicine has since become solely reliant on scientific methods and pathologic anatomy to diagnose and treat diseases (Mantri, 2008).  The original Hippocratic school of thought placed emphasis on an integrative mind-body-personality ideology or philosophy (Mantri, 2008).  The system of Western medicine has led to some ethical problems that can affect the therapeutic relationship.  Some of these problems include the depersonalization of a patient and the removal of the patient as equal partners in their care.   Calls for the return of Western medicine to its original Hippocratic roots have been made by various individuals within the field.  However, there is a pe

All the Green Fashion from this Year's Met Gala

Image
The Met Gala took place on May 6th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here in New York.  Many believed that this year’s gala had a double theme.  “ Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion ” and “ The Garden of Time ” were the two themes that celebrities on the red carpet dressed for.  Vogue editor at large, Anna Wintour, actually issued an apology over the confusion regarding the themes.  The new exhibit that was being highlighted is called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the dress code for the 2024 Met Gala was “The Garden of Time.”  Quite a few celebrities dressed for what they believed was a “Sleeping Beauty” theme. It appears though that the actual dress code was "The Garden of Time."  Some managed to incorporate both themes and this was pretty cool to see. Green Fashion was out and in full effect on this year’s green carpet.  There were a number of looks that incorporated natural materials such as glass, sand, wood as well as flora and faun.  Here are the gree

Native Girl Scout Limited Edition Collection Review

Image
If you are a regular Native customer then you might have heard about their limited edition Girl Scout cookie scented collection.  As a former girl scout, I wholeheartedly support this collaboration.  Girl Scouts is a non profit organization that provides life changing experiences for girls of all ages.  The collection is licensed by the Girl Scout organization.   Native body washes are a self-care staple.  I was able to try three scents from the Girl Scout collection.  Here are three reasons why I am a huge fan of their body washes: 1. Scents- Native offers a large variety of scents that actually smell delightfully good. Whether you’re in the mood for fruity, sweet, floral or clean scents, the scents totally deliver! I don’t know how Native manages to do it but the scents are always true to what it should be smelling like. 2. Value- Now I don’t know about you but I love cleanliness and showering is always important. If you shower frequently, then you probably know how small body wash b

The New Beyond Steak: Green News Guide Reviews

Image
The new meatless steak by Beyond Meat is a hot item.  I can count at least two times where I intended to purchase Beyond Meat’s new meatless steak and it was completely out of stock in both stores.  I am going to give you the real deal nitty gritty about Beyond Steak.   When I first heard about Beyond Meat’s new steak and looked at a picture of the package, I thought, “hmmmm….will this be similar to the taste of Gardein’s beefless tips?" They do look kind of similar to each other.  Even though I have used Gardein’s beefless steak in various recipes, I’m not sold out about the taste.  That product has somewhat of a cardboard taste (not gonna lie)!  When I finally got my hands on Beyond Meat’s Steak courtesy of Amazon Fresh, I instantly thought about the recipe that I would use it for.  I decided to do a seared mixup with some peppers and onions on top a bed of fluffy rice.  I was pleasantly surprised at how great Beyond Steak tastes as well as how similar the texture is to real ste

Climate Activists Throw Tomato Soup On Van Gogh Painting at London National Gallery

Image
A duo of climate activists threw tomato soup on Van Gogh’s iconic "Sunflowers” painting at the London National Gallery. The duo hails from the activist group, Just Stop Oil.  Sunflowers by Van Gogh is a still life painting from a series which is revered by art enthusiasts and communities.  Van Gogh created four different versions of “Sunflowers” which were meant to showcase the stages of life—from new to dying. The London National Gallery holds the fourth version, which was created in 1888. The climate activists from Just Stop oil threw two cans of tomato soup at the glass encapsulated painting and then glued themselves to the gallery wall.  Just Stop Oil is no stranger to staging protests in front of acclaimed artworks.  Activists from the organization glued themselves to the frame of Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” which is displayed at London’s Royal Academy of Art.  The female protester could be heard on video with a thick British accent saying, “What is worth more? Art or life?

Move to the side Yeezy! There’s a sustainable sneaker company on the horizon! With a motto such as “Love at First Step,” who wouldn’t run out to snag a pair? Allbirds creates running shoes made from planet friendly sources such as eucalyptus infused pulp, sugar cane and merino wool.  They are in the process of producing a natural plant based leather. Allbirds sneakers come in an array of colors, prints and styles.   The Women’s Wool Piper Mid (which I think looks totally rad)   boasts a price of $120 and has a very unique two fold half and half print going on.    This reimagined classic is made with merino wool fiber and is balanced at with a sugarcane outsole.   Though I’m not a sneaker head, I’m all for a sneaker company which keeps the safety of the environment as a focal point during its production processes.   Allbirds realizes that the fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental problems.   They’ve set intentions to reduce their carbon footprint to zero b

Revelations from Super Soul Sunday with Whole Foods Founder, John Mackey

Image
Earlier this year, Oprah Winfrey sat down with John Mackey, co-founder of Whole Foods Incorporation, for her Super Soul Sunday Series on the OWN Network. There is one simple ingredient that Whole Foods was birthed from and it is--LOVE! As a Whole Foods customer, it's one thing to enjoy going down the natural food isles in the store but it's a real joy to learn how such an awesome grocery store came into being. Mackey provided the audience with remarkable insight about his life, fulfilling one's higher purpose and sound wisdom concerning ethical business practice. Birthing Whole Foods John Mackey was a student in university when the idea for a natural and organic foods grocery store came to him and his friend at the time. Mackey's parents desired for him to assume a typically coveted profession in society. His mother wanted him to become a doctor or lawyer. Deep down, Mackey knew that this was not what he wanted for himself and he decided to break away from what
