Butter Made from Thin Air and Eggs Made from Plants

Image
There's a green company in town that is creating something out of nothing.  That something is delightfully rich butter.  This butter is vegan and made from thin air.  Yes--you heard that right.  The butter is made from air; utilizing real fat and without any impact to the environment.  Savor is the company behind this new and revolutionary fat making process.  To make the butter or fat, a carbon source is heated with hydrogen and is later mixed with oxygen from the air. Photo by Savor Savor was founded by Kathleen Alexander in San Jose, California. Their mission is to commercially produce agriculture free, healthy fats in a way that doesn't negatively affect the environment. The fats are produced without dangerous chemicals and toxins.  Butter is the first type of food that Savor has created but company has plans to expand and begin producing these fats for other foods such as ice cream, milk, cheese and meat.  These foods will all be made without...

Brave Neurosurgeon Tells Why he Left Western Medicine

Image
The field of medicine has evolved since its earliest and historical days when Hippocrates sought out a new system to explain and understand illnesses.  During those days, the main goal was to diagnose an individual's problem and provide a way to restore balance among the humors using logic and philosophy. Modernized western medicine has since become solely reliant on scientific methods and pathologic anatomy to diagnose and treat diseases (Mantri, 2008).  The original Hippocratic school of thought placed emphasis on an integrative mind-body-personality ideology or philosophy (Mantri, 2008).  The system of Western medicine has led to some ethical problems that can affect the therapeutic relationship.  Some of these problems include the depersonalization of a patient and the removal of the patient as equal partners in their care.   Calls for the return of Western medicine to its original Hippocratic roots have been made by various individuals within the field...

10 Days After their Van Gogh protest, Just Stop Oil Targets the King of England

Image
Just Stop Oil is back at it again and this time the shenanigans included British Royal family members, King Charles, Prince William, Princess Catherine and Camilla Consort.  Yesterday, two members from the organization marched into Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and visited the royal family section.  As the two protesters made their way to the royal wax figures, they began removing their bags and outerwear.  The bold letters of the organization’s name swiftly appeared on their white tees as people quietly walked to and fro past other wax figures.  The activist duo consisted of a woman and man.  The woman grabbed a flat looking cake out of her bag and jammed it right into the face of the figure of King Charles.   Would Prince William be next?  No! Prince William was actually spared of being a cakeface.  Perhaps Just Stop Oil is aware of William’s work with his Earthshot Prize which is an initiative being used to fund environmental solutions....

Celeb Private Jet Usage is Contributing to Environmental Issues

Image
Flying by airplane is not an environmentally safe way to travel.  Travelling by private jet is particularly harmful to the environment.  Individuals with the resources often choose to travel by private jet for various reasons which include their comfort and lifestyle as well as the main reason being to get from point A to point B in the quickest amount of time while avoiding airport lines and security.  It’s not often that these individuals think about the environmental impact that their choices have on the environment.   It is important to focus on collective efforts for taking of earth but when individual actions are equivalent to amount of CO2 emissions of a collective, it should be publicized.  Digital marketing company, Yard decided to do just that where private jet travel is concerned. In July, Yard, released a list of celebrities who had the highest carbon emissions by private jet.  They received raw data from Celebrity Jets and compared data to...

Gabriella Karefa-Johnson Doesn't Care What Kanye West Thinks: She's Fat and Proud

Image
Kanye West recently premiered his latest fashion collection in Paris.  His YZY SZN 9 collection was attended by many including Vogue Global editor at large, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson.  The Internet went into full on shock mode after West’s show featured “White Lives Matter" Shirts.  The same show which saw celebrities like Jaden Smith walking out and to which the NY Times offered a scathing review of.  Jaden later provided some clarity behind his leaving and said " I Had To Dip Lol.  True Leaders Lead. I Don’t Care Who’s It Is If I Don’t Feel The Message I’m Out. Black Lives Matter. We Demand A More Progressive Future. Kanye West, Candace Owens and Lauryn Hill’s daughter Selah Marley were seen sporting the shirts on stage. Gabriella’s critique of the shirts angered West and he attacked her appearance in a now deleted post with a picture of her that stated “this is not a fashion person.”  Kanye’s attack of her appearance was a bullying tactic used to questio...

Mindful Plants?

Image
We all know that plants are living, breathing entities.  Both humans and plant forms receive energy from the sun.  The main difference that separates humans from plants is photosynthesis; however plants and humans are dependent on each other for survival.  Plants helps humans to breathe by providing us oxygen and humans help plants to breathe by providing them with carbon dioxide.  This cycle of plants and humans being dependent or interacting with each other don’t simply happen on an ecological or biological level; it can also be on social, spiritual or cultural levels. Of course when it comes to foreign ideologies, there is always the need for evidence for those doubting Toms who are skeptical of that which is elementary or different to current knowledge or belief systems.  Studies have shown that plants can be mood boosters as well as reduce stress; they help to eliminate toxins and clean the air by providing us oxygen. Nurturing and caring for plants he...

Why Beyonce's 'Black Parade' is the New Black Anthem

Image
I don’t think that the people were ready for the new black anthem that Mrs. Beyonce Knowles-Carter dropped on Juneteenth 2020. This is the most Africa-centered, black empowerment song that I’ve heard from a Black American since “Lift every Voice & Sing!” Actually, come to think of it, Lift Every Voice and Sing was not such a stark reminder of the actual history of black people as Black Parade is. The song, written by James Weldon Johnson was a powerful ode to freedom. When Weldon Johnson wrote Lift Every Voice and Sing in the year 1900, slavery in America had ended only a mere 35 years earlier. It was a song of black unity and a subdued poetic showmanship of pride that black people were just mustering up the courage to reclaim. Black Parade is a brazen and oh so bold, soul stirring, hip turning, beat-booming, ancestor appreciating, motherland dripping song from the ever so talented Beyonce! Anyone who knows me, knows I go goo goo ga ga for Bey. This song right here is why sh...
