Coffee Tea?! My Coffee Secret

Image
NCDT (National Coffee Data Trends) have reported that as much as 67% of Americans drink coffee on a daily basis.  That amount increases to 75% when determining the amount of adults who drink coffee on a weekly basis.  One lesser know fact is that the global coffee market is expected to reach 182 billion by the year 2030.  What is it about that little dark bean, available in so many varieties, that cause people to be unable to go about their daily lives without it?  It must be the flavor as some people swear by coffees made in various countries.  If it's not Columbian or Jamaican coffee, some will not even touch the mug.  Then there are the coffee chain fan clubs who must have their daily Starbucks or Tim Horton's signature espresso in the morning.  Let's be real, the taste of coffee isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially when dark.  Quite possibly, it may be the alertness that coffee provides after consumption which have some people hooked.   The alertness and

All the Green Fashion from this Year's Met Gala

Image
The Met Gala took place on May 6th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here in New York.  Many believed that this year’s gala had a double theme.  “ Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion ” and “ The Garden of Time ” were the two themes that celebrities on the red carpet dressed for.  Vogue editor at large, Anna Wintour, actually issued an apology over the confusion regarding the themes.  The new exhibit that was being highlighted is called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the dress code for the 2024 Met Gala was “The Garden of Time.”  Quite a few celebrities dressed for what they believed was a “Sleeping Beauty” theme. It appears though that the actual dress code was "The Garden of Time."  Some managed to incorporate both themes and this was pretty cool to see. Green Fashion was out and in full effect on this year’s green carpet.  There were a number of looks that incorporated natural materials such as glass, sand, wood as well as flora and faun.  Here are the gree

Two years after the launch of their Coach Reloved Campaign, Coach New York is back at it again and kicking off a new sustainably smart sub brand named Coachtopia.  Coach is introducing it’s Coachtopia brand as a circular business model. Circularity is about reimagining not just the product lifecycle but the relationship between brand, planet, and consumer,” says Joon Silverstein, the SVP of Global Marketing and Creative and Sustainability at Coach and Head of Coachtopia, via their press release.  Instead of trashing old bags, Coach is “reimagining” those bags and remaking or upcycling them into something new. Customers who’ve purchased Coach bags can opt to recycle them by sending them into Coach. When this is done, Coach does not have to source new materials to create a bag. They simply use scrap and waste leather to create the new and trending. Utilizing new materials contributes to 38% of the fashion industry’s greenhouse emissions.   It enables them to use the old materials from a

Gabriella Karefa-Johnson Doesn't Care What Kanye West Thinks: She's Fat and Proud

Image
Kanye West recently premiered his latest fashion collection in Paris.  His YZY SZN 9 collection was attended by many including Vogue Global editor at large, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson.  The Internet went into full on shock mode after West’s show featured “White Lives Matter" Shirts.  The same show which saw celebrities like Jaden Smith walking out and to which the NY Times offered a scathing review of.  Jaden later provided some clarity behind his leaving and said " I Had To Dip Lol.  True Leaders Lead. I Don’t Care Who’s It Is If I Don’t Feel The Message I’m Out. Black Lives Matter. We Demand A More Progressive Future. Kanye West, Candace Owens and Lauryn Hill’s daughter Selah Marley were seen sporting the shirts on stage. Gabriella’s critique of the shirts angered West and he attacked her appearance in a now deleted post with a picture of her that stated “this is not a fashion person.”  Kanye’s attack of her appearance was a bullying tactic used to question her authority as

Coach (Re) Loved Campaign

Image
To increase efforts to improve sustainability Coach initiated a campaign which enables customers to recycle their old bags. Coach is an all American luxury design house which was established in New York and they've been creating much loved leather goods for decades.  Customers are given credit towards a new bag when they turn in their old bags. The design house then reimagines or restores the bag to like new condition.  Coach has four different methods for giving their old bags a new life: 1. Coach Upcrafted:  When Coach customers trade their old bag, coach re-designs the bag and may add elements to it in order to make it look like a completely different bag. 2. Coach Restored: Coach will restore older bags to their original condition 3. Coach Vintage:  Coach will restore vintage bags to their original condition 4. Coach Remade: Coach uses the materials from pre-loved handbags to construct and create a new handbag or leather good. If you visit the Coach upcrafted section of the web

Louis Vuitton Embraces Sustainability in Pop Up Shop Road Tour

Image
Louis Vuitton is increasing their sustainability efforts with a little creativity on the side. The brand recently launched a pop of store which includes a showcase of upcycled garments for its Spring/Summer 2021 collection. The pop up's “Adventures of Zoooom with Friends” theme was planned by Virgil Abloh, creator director of menswear at Louis Vuitton. The pandemic has caused fashion houses to push the envelope so that creativity can remain alive. The looks on display are being deemed as “seasonless looks” by the brand. Pieces on display in the Pop Up were made using materials from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2020 collections. The current collection is derived from four different fashion upcycling methods. These include: 1.) New looks made from recycled material 2.) Looks repeated from the Fall-Winter 2020 collection 3.) Looks freely created by the studio during the lockdown using recycled material 4.)
