Butter Made from Thin Air and Eggs Made from Plants

Image
There's a green company in town that is creating something out of nothing.  That something is delightfully rich butter.  This butter is vegan and made from thin air.  Yes--you heard that right.  The butter is made from air; utilizing real fat and without any impact to the environment.  Savor is the company behind this new and revolutionary fat making process.  To make the butter or fat, a carbon source is heated with hydrogen and is later mixed with oxygen from the air. Photo by Savor Savor was founded by Kathleen Alexander in San Jose, California. Their mission is to commercially produce agriculture free, healthy fats in a way that doesn't negatively affect the environment. The fats are produced without dangerous chemicals and toxins.  Butter is the first type of food that Savor has created but company has plans to expand and begin producing these fats for other foods such as ice cream, milk, cheese and meat.  These foods will all be made without any animal suffering or agricu

PETA Protester Confronts Pharrell Williams During Film Premiere

Image
A protester from the organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), disrupted a speech being given by Pharrell Williams at a Biopic Premiere in Toronto.  She rushed the stage with a white sign in her hand that read:  Pharrell: Stop Supporting Killing Animals for Fashion.  Pharrell was in Toronto to support his LEGO biopic entitled, Piece by Piece.   The protester directed a number of statements towards Pharrell and the audience concerning his role as men's creative director at Louis Vuitton.   "Your Louis Vuitton collection … Pharrell’s collection is made from their blood,” the protester shouted to the audience. “Pharrell stop torturing animals! Ostriches are being hung upside down, electrocuted with their necks slit.”   PETA is petitioning Louis Vuitton to stop abusing animals and using their bodily materials for the purpose of fashion creation.  During the protest, Pharrell made a pause during his speech and outrightly agreed with the protester.  "Ok.

All the Green Fashion from this Year's Met Gala

Image
The Met Gala took place on May 6th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art here in New York.  Many believed that this year’s gala had a double theme.  “ Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion ” and “ The Garden of Time ” were the two themes that celebrities on the red carpet dressed for.  Vogue editor at large, Anna Wintour, actually issued an apology over the confusion regarding the themes.  The new exhibit that was being highlighted is called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the dress code for the 2024 Met Gala was “The Garden of Time.”  Quite a few celebrities dressed for what they believed was a “Sleeping Beauty” theme. It appears though that the actual dress code was "The Garden of Time."  Some managed to incorporate both themes and this was pretty cool to see. Green Fashion was out and in full effect on this year’s green carpet.  There were a number of looks that incorporated natural materials such as glass, sand, wood as well as flora and faun.  Here are the gree

Customers who’ve purchased Coach bags can opt to recycle them by sending them into Coach. When this is done, Coach does not have to source new materials to create a bag. They simply use scrap and waste leather to create the new and trending. Utilizing new materials contributes to 38% of the fashion industry’s greenhouse emissions.   It enables them to use the old materials from a

Gabriella Karefa-Johnson Doesn't Care What Kanye West Thinks: She's Fat and Proud

Kanye West recently premiered his latest fashion collection in Paris.  His YZY SZN 9 collection was attended by many including Vogue Global editor at large, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson.  The Internet went into full on shock mode after West’s show featured “White Lives Matter" Shirts.  The same show which saw celebrities like Jaden Smith walking out and to which the NY Times offered a scathing review of.  Jaden later provided some clarity behind his leaving and said " I Had To Dip Lol.  True Leaders Lead. I Don’t Care Who’s It Is If I Don’t Feel The Message I’m Out. Black Lives Matter. We Demand A More Progressive Future. Kanye West, Candace Owens and Lauryn Hill’s daughter Selah Marley were seen sporting the shirts on stage. Gabriella’s critique of the shirts angered West and he attacked her appearance in a now deleted post with a picture of her that stated “this is not a fashion person.”  Kanye’s attack of her appearance was a bullying tactic used to question her authority as

Move to the side Yeezy! There’s a sustainable sneaker company on the horizon! With a motto such as “Love at First Step,” who wouldn’t run out to snag a pair? Allbirds creates running shoes made from planet friendly sources such as eucalyptus infused pulp, sugar cane and merino wool.  They are in the process of producing a natural plant based leather. Allbirds sneakers come in an array of colors, prints and styles.   The Women’s Wool Piper Mid (which I think looks totally rad)   boasts a price of $120 and has a very unique two fold half and half print going on.    This reimagined classic is made with merino wool fiber and is balanced at with a sugarcane outsole.   Though I’m not a sneaker head, I’m all for a sneaker company which keeps the safety of the environment as a focal point during its production processes.   Allbirds realizes that the fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental problems.   They’ve set intentions to reduce their carbon footprint to zero b
