Robert Redford passed away on the 17th day of September 2025 in his beloved home of Sundance, Utah. Redford was everyone’s favorite actor’s favorite actor.  He was a fixture in the world of Hollywood and an Academy Award winning actor and director whose work spanned many decades.  He has starred in notable films such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Great Gatsby (1974), The Sting (1974), Out of Africa (1985),  Indecent Proposal (1993), Avengers: Endgame (2019) as well as Broadway shows such as  Sunday in New York (1963) and  Barefoot in the Park (1963). While driving through Provo Canyon on a motorbike, Redford took in the scenery and instantly knew that he wanted to make a home there.  Always an avid lover of nature, Robert was mesmerized by the landscapes of Utah and sought to purchase more than 5,000 acres of land in Sundance while keeping the goals of preservation and conservation in mind. Notch Free iPhone Coming?

Is Apple getting ready to reveal a notch-less iphone? The notch is probably the #1 design issue that iphone users dislike the most since its introduction on the iphone X in 2017. The large notch in the middle of the screen takes away from the edge-to-edge display. Placing the notch in the current location of the phone was not a good design idea.

Apple filed for a patent that expands the phone display, eliminates the notch and scrolls from within. When the display expands, the notch suddenly will become hidden.

The patent was recently won on July 20th.

Did iphone users even care all that much for an edge-to-edge display? Probably not, however, it’s possible that Apple may have wanted to introduce a phone that is somewhat similar to their competitors. When Apple removed the physical home button from their phone a few years ago, they received a ton of backlash and they’re probably still receiving it today.  Some users have publicly voiced their opinions about Apple and its current state on online forums and blogs. Others may have done  so privately.

I got in touch with Tim Cook recently and thankfully, I was able to have a conversation with one of his executives. While I’m still side-eyeing the process for the situation that led me to contact, I was glad that my thoughts were heard.  When he was alive, Steve would often respond to customers when they contacted even though that was not a part of his job description.  He had a hand in every pie concerning Apple. I would say that the loyalty that so many have towards Apple is more than likely due to the honest fact that they simply have reliable and great products.  Others will never forget Steve Jobs and all that he did to propel the company to what it is today.   He placed all his breath, courage and essence into his products and company and he clearly expected his employees and successors to follow suit.

Every time I think about Steve Jobs, I always wonder, would he be impressed or happy with the current state of Apple? Would he be pleased with the products being put out?  The physical home button was a signature feature that Steve engineered for his products. When I saw the iphone X in 2017, I was a bit perturbed. Yes, it’s important to be innovative and there is always a need to take the present time and age into account but in my opinion, “If ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

I have to admit that I took a dive to the other side recently and joined the android boys and girls due to the current design particulars that I don’t really care for on the current iphones. The excessively big notch is certainly the foremost. I even wrote a scathing piece in the past to express my experience and titled it, “So Long iPhone.”  But people can have changes of heart right? My forgiving nature won and no, that article won’t see the light of day.

Apple announced that their annual Fall Apple event will take place on September 14th and maybe--just maybe--the newest model of the iphone will see a return of the home button or possibly even a slimmed down notch. I’m sure there are apple enthusiasts looking forward to that day. The home button was a feature that millions of Apple users around the globe came to know and love.  Its disappearance was a mystery that really didn’t need to happen.  Hopefully Apple comes through for its tribe and sprinkles some Apple magic back onto us.
