The Princess of Wales completed the Three Peaks challenge over the weekend.  The challenge involves a blend of driving and trekking through three of the highest mountain peaks in England, Scotland and Wales--Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa. The challenge areas cover 23 miles of walking distance along with a 462 mile drive between each peak.   The challenge is open to the public and many aim to walk to the summit of the peaks within 24 hours.  However, the trek is so grueling and extensive that only 40% of the individuals attempting the challenge are able to complete it within this timeframe.  It is recommended that individuals desiring to complete the Three Peaks Challenge engage in strength training over a period of eight to twelve weeks. Getting Cool for Beauty with Cryotherapy

Spa lovers look out! A new beautifying method called Cryotherapy is making a very cool (no pun intended) name for itself at spa and wellness centers in cities like Mountain View, New York and Paris. Cryotherapy is a hypercooling beauty treatment that helps to decrease inflammation of the skin, boost metabolism, relax tired muscles, improve skin elasticity, skin tone, and even help to bolster athletic performance.

So what exactly is Cryotherapy?
Well, to make a long story short—it literally entails freezing your body or face off! Airy streams of liquid nitrogen flow over the face and body. Cryotherapy was originally created in Japan in 1978 as a method for treating arthritis.
The modern day beauty who opts to go for a full body treatment, will stand in a tubular vessel that pumps out cool air at temperatures between -184 and -292 degrees Farenheit! You might be thinking, “Well goodness, wouldn’t I freeze to death?” The answer is: NO! For a not so cool price tag of around $90, you’ll only be in the cryotherapy chamber for 3 minutes. That’s not so bad, now is it?!
Another Cryotherapy option is the CryoFacial machine which helps to firm skin and aids in the growth of hair and eyelashes! The aesthetician, utilizing a Cryowand, sends out streams of pressurized liquid nitrogen over the face and neck area. The CryoFacial is chemical free and non-invasive. CryoFacial may be the perfect, chemical free alternative option to Botox as users have claimed to experience tightened pores and decreased wrinkles with treatment.

Quite a few studies have confirmed the wide range of benefits of cryotherapy. One particular study conducted by researchers in the Department of Dermatology at Konya Training and Research Hospital in Turkey, found that cryotherapy had profound anticancer benefits in a 65 year old woman living with cancerous skin legions. The woman experienced a 90% reduction of skin legions after treatment with cryotherapy.

We are at the beginning of a New Year; a glorious time for new beginnings, it might be helpful to introduce a new treatment to your beauty regimen. with all of the testimonials and comments from avid users, Cryotherapy seems as if it would improve even the most established wellness and beauty regimens.
