Green News Guide Reviews Blue Apron 👩‍🍳

Meal Kits are Taking Over the USofA Who knew that prep (meal kit) and no prep (heat and eat) meal delivery services would eventually become the future?  When it comes to cooking, either you know how to do it or you do not.  If you fall into the latter category, you probably get by ordering out everyday or if you have the means, hire a private chef.  What I love most about meal delivery services is that it doesn't matter what category you fall into! If you don't know how to cook, you can most certainly learn through prep (meal kit) based meal delivery services.  On the other hand, if you are an experienced cook, prep and no prep delivery plans allow for the food experimenter to achieve the bliss of food diversity.  Eating the same foods over and over can get a bit boring!  If you're someone who loves to try new foods and recipes ALL the time, meal delivery services may be the route that you need to take.  Thanks to food delivery services such as Hello F...

Product Review: Glow Recipe

Image
It’s Asian American month here in the states and I thought it would be a perfect time to review skin care brand, Glow Recipe.  Glow Recipe was founded in 2014 by Korean American sisters, Christine Chang and Sara Lee. The sisters desired to merge K-Beauty with the fruit based ingredients.  The skincare brand is fruit themed and every product has a specific fruit, which is at the heart of the ingredient list.  The fruits that are currently featured in Glow Recipe’s products include avocado, watermelon, papaya, pineapple, banana and blueberry.   It’s actually interesting how I became familiar with the brand. I came across Glow Recipe while in the Sephora location on Madison Ave.  I was looking for a serum and when I secured the one I wanted from my favorite brand, Caudalie, I quickly made my way to the line and there were a few bottles of Glow Recipe’s watermelon toner right by the line.  Very smart idea there Sephora! This is a g...

Fenty Skin Review: Is it Really Clean?

Image
Rihanna released a skin care collection consisting of three products at the end of July after the success of her company, Fenty Beauty cosmetics. The latest product to be released in the Fenty skin range is the Instant Reset Gel Recovery Cream. The two products that I’ve tried are the 'Fat Water' which is a pore refining toner serum and the Instant Reset Recovery Cream. Fat Water is a transparent pink hue that looks like water but has a weightier volume. It’s easy to understand why this toner serum was nameD ‘Fat Water.’ Fat Water has a mix of fruit and plant based ingredients such as cactus flower, acerola and fig fruit extracts and even vitamin B3 (Niacinamide). After using the product for over a month, I can say that it certainly does not dry out facial skin and it tightens and diminishes pores with great success. I think Fat Water is an amazing facial toner!!! It’s skin refreshing abilities are superior to others. The Instant Reset Recovery Gel has a very familiar fragrance...

Yadain Cultural Solutions Product Review

Image
Yadain Cultural Solutions has been producing and packaging handmade, all-natural products for body, skin and hair since 1997. Yadain means “two hands” in Arabic which came from the fact that they produce products with two hands and opt not to rely on machinery. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Yadain embraces a motto which proclaims: “From the People For the People.” I came across the brand about two years ago and finally got around to trying a few of their body products. Yadain’s products are truly clean and all natural. They use a variety of herbs, fruits, oils and butters to produce their body and skincare goods. Here are the products I’ll be discussing from Yadain: 1.) Signature therapeutic Whipped butter $15.99 - As a person who has tried many body butters, I can say Yadain has got the perfect formulation. The butter is not too hard and it spreads well. It’s creamy and it’s luscious. The type I selected was ‘raw mango and Oats.’ My one issue with the product was that it was missing the sc...

Image
The beauty and personal care industry may be a tad bit shook after the state of California laid their bricks and made them straight about harmful substances in cosmetics! California is the leading state in regulations of safe and harmful ingredients in products. Governor Gavin Newsome announced that the Golden state would be banning these 24 toxic ingredients from personal care products and cosmetics, beginning in January of 2021. it is called the "toxic free cosmetics act." The list of banned ingredients are as follows: 1.) Dibutyl phthalate 2.) Diethylhexyl phthalate 3.) Formaldehyde 4.) Paraformaldehyde 5.) Methylene glycol 6.) Q-15 or Quaternium-15 7.) Mercury 8.) Isobutylparaben 9.) Isopropylparaben 10.) o-Phenylenediamine and its salts 11.) m-Phenylenediamine and its salts 12.) 13 various types of PFAS (Per and Poly fluoroalkyl substances) What does this mean for the Cosmetic Industry? Though California is the only state who is making sweeping changes in banni...
